Head’s Up - Beware of Linens N’ Things Going Out of Business Sale
My mother met for lunch with one of her friends today. The lady had just gone to Linens N’ Things to hit up the going out of business sale.
The friend noticed that something was not right with the stickers on the products she bought. She began to pull back the stickers and saw that there was original pricing beneath it. So an item for $35 was now priced at $47. The sale is still going right for only 25-35% off items. Basically, the current going out of business sale is a scam. Still trying to squeeze every cent out of an already failing business.

No wonder they are going out of business. What a scam.
Sorry but you’re both idiots.
When a company goes into liquidation the product has already been sold to a jobber. The contents were sold long before any out of business sign went up. LNT has not re-stickered anything after the jobber steps in.
I’m not in the store so I can’t tell you what happened with that particular item and I’m not going to try since it appears you are like most people and like to speak out without knowing or even attempting to research the situation or facts.
very interesting. sounds like a bargain!
Good to know Susan.
Not going to justify the post. Haven’t worked in retail in 6 years.
Don’t be a bitch.
Actually, Susan is the idiot. If the jobber had stepped in, the merchandise would no longer be at the store. Susan is probably speaking from her illustrious career at Big Lots.
The claws are coming out! Hisssss….
Hold up… I thought this was a personal blog… y’know with personal opinions?
I also didn’t realize LnT hired people to troll and defend what they’re doing.
Live n learn!
ChampagneBlonde is correct…not only on Susan being an idiot but if the inventory had already been liquidated it wouldn’t even be in the store.
2 cents - liquidators can buy the merchandise and use the real estate to sell it. It’s not linens n things products and all sales and operations are the liquidator’s.
Those bastards. I will look out for that because there is another Linens N’ Things going out of business here where I am, north of Baltimore in Towson. Their prices have sloooooooooooooooowly gotten cut. I wanted to buy a sofa cover, and remember, before they announced they were closing, that some of those covers were knocked down from $60 to $30. But I waited, and for nothing. Those knock-down prices all have been ripped off, and their new “budget” price is $45.
But I have found some deals. I’ve just had to hunt them down. I finally bought a $40 pasta maker for $30, inspired by the Baltimore Book Fair - the Amateur Gourmet Adam Roberts came down from NYC to plug his book and do his first-ever cooking demo. He made tomato sauce and talked about homemade pasta and all my Italian ancestors started beckoning me to buy a pasta maker. Before that, I found a nonstick omelette pan for $11! But Rachael Ray’s “garbage bowl” - which looks like it’s been molded out of frozen vomit, no kidding - is down 25% from its original $18 price tag. $18 for a bowl you throw junk in. Jeez!
I still work for them, at a store not (yet) slated for closing. The company has been raising prices by the truckload for the last 3 months. And you know they’re paying the same cost for them.
Not sure how the liquidation company may work, but in the closing stores they do slowly creep the percent off upwards. They’re in it to get as much out of it as possible.
I also work for LNT and it really sucks how everywhere I look everyones looking for the going out of business sales..but what some people fail to see is how many people is jobless (that was not aimed at anyone on here)…and also as for the liquidation it would be in the store. LNT would sell it to the liquidator and they would keep it in the same place until its all gone and I only know that cause they were talking about it.
I too work for LNT.. been a year. And yes, once the liquidators buy a company out, they jack the prices up some to get as much money as possible. I’d probably do the same if I bought out a company.. esp after the fact that I had just spent over $100 mil.
It’s not all our fault… It’s the buyers that ordered way too many supersets that no one bought!! Portifino, anyone?? It’s the charge sends, the transfers, the poor restocking system, and the coupon abuse. All this stuff led to our demise.
The liquidators are scummy, and the people that are shopping now are stupid for buying anything now. For example the slip covers… all back to 10% off the FULL PRICE. The liquidators are out to make money, they got a bargain on buying LNT and they’re just going to make more money on the sale. So, deal with it and wait, or shop at Bed Bath and Beyond, you all seem to have done that already which helped put us out. Be annoyed with the “Hi” every 5 seconds instead of a genuine “How can I help you today?.” Don’t forget your coupons!!
Whty shop at a place where you cant return things for 20% off when I can get that percentage off and no hasel returns at Bed Bath and Beyond
