Cocktail Culture - Afterwork Cocktail Party

Last week my friend D- and I had a girls cocktail party. Come, meet new people and have some cocktails. You know the drill.

I had found the seasonal magazine awhile back called Southern Lady Holidays which has been very beneficial to the both of us. D- used many recipes and ideas for her big family Christmas party she hosted. This is her first Christmas as a Mrs. and she has a huge family so it was important to pull out all the stops.

Anyway, our little party was a stop in kind of thing. Here are a couple of items we used.

Cherry Champagne Cocktail

2 tablespoons marachino cherry juice
1/2 teaspoon almond-flavored liqueur
1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
3 ounces chilled champagne
Garnish: maraschino cherry and lime spiral

In a champagne flute, combine cherry juice, almond flavored liqueur, and lemon juice. Pour in champagne and stir gently. Garnish with cherry and lime spiral, if desired.

Changes: D- made this in a pitcher before the party started. We thought it tasted like cough syrup. We then added most of a bottle of champagne. It was VERY tasty, and VERY popular after that. Would definitely make again after the tweaking.

Creole Shrimp and Crab Dip

2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1-1/2 cups sour cream
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 tablespoons Creole seasoning
2 teaspoons dried minced onion
1/4 cup finely chopped green onion
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
1 tablespoon hot sauce (optional)
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 (8-ounce) cartons fresh lump crabmeat, picked for shells
1 pounds cooked medium fresh shrimp, coarsely chopped
Garnish: green onion, shrimp, and Creole seasoning

In a medium bowl, combine cream cheese, sour cream, lemon juice, Creole seasoning, and dried onion. Beat at medium speed with an electric mixer until well blended. Add green onion, parsley, hot sauce and salt, stirring to mix well. Stir in crabmeat and shrimp until combined. Cover and chill. Garnish. Serve with crackers. D- did a mix of crackers which worked well.

Outfits
Everyone came from work. I was wearing jeans, a black sweater and heals.

Here is S- enjoying her bruschetta.

Lola doesn’t care that much for me. Just Ed. It’s sad, but I am just not an animal/kid person.

Okay - this is also a Lola post. Is it twisted that a) I loved the video, and b) it made me want to drink a huge glass of wine?

    Jesus.

    Hey Fairfax,

It is the video of Lola. I think I am going to have to take it down because it is affecting my whole site.
