I went to Baltimore, Hampden specifically
I went to the Baltimore Blogger Happy Hour on Friday night. Why you ask? Obviously, I am not from Baltimore, but I read their blogs and we DON”T KNOW ANYONE HERE. And that is weird to not know anyone.
We had a good time, drank some margaritas, Ed decided he loved Hampden and wanted to move there. (Not happening). Did not meet Fairfax, unfortunately. Hope all gets better for you and yours.
We ate dinner at Rocket to Venus, per John’s recommendation. Very tasty. Very long wait.
But here is the thing. I love the show The Wire on HBO. ALOT. Possibly obsessed. As we drove into Baltimore I could see (I think) the West side. Then the directions took us through an area on the outskirts (I think). Who do you think the moron was who started to freak out till we got to Hampden. Yes, that would be me.
You would think that I would not act that way considering the neighborhood I live in. But I stupidly did. My apologies to Baltimore.
Anyway, below are previews for the fifth and unfortunately final season of The Wire on HBO.
It is hand’s down the best show on television. You should make an appointment to see amazing acting and writing.

It was great meeting you, and we Baltimorians will welcome you anytime. I hope the city (and city folk) lived up to your expectations!
We had a great time. Thanks for having us.
Everyone has told Ed that Baltimoreans are some of the best there is and it seems to be true.
Leslie: I’m glad you guys could make it and that a great experience was had by all! Don’t worry about Ed wanting to move to Hampden, home of our strange annual Honfest ritual - Hampden has that effect on lots of people, but it’ll wear off after a while
BTW: thanks, Ed, for the enthusiasm about Bawlmer! And I’m glad you both liked Rocket 2 Venus. I’m also glad you found it - I am horrible with directions and after listening to someone tell them to me, I would’ve wandered around town in the dark for hours (not something you want to do in Baltimore). And I’ve eaten there twice!
So glad to hear that The Wire did not scare you away from Baltimore. This really is a great city and Hampden is one of our most interesting neighborhoods. For a considerably different view of Baltimore consider taking a drive through Guilford. Better yet, wait until spring when thousands of tulips are in bloom at Sherwood Gardens in Guilford.
And, yes, The Wire is the BEST show on television and my justification for the ridiculous amount of money that I send to Comcast each month.
Soooo sorry that I missed everything… and especially meeting you and Ed. If you go about a mile to the north of Hampden, you will find one of the most posh neighbourhoods in the city. Very old money. Designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, who designed Central Park.
Hope we can do this another time…
