Restaurant Manners - Families obviously stealing food

I was at dinner last night with mother and sister and I saw what has become a common occurrance in restaurants.

A family of four was sitting two tables over from us. They proceed to each order items from the menu that if one item had been ordered it would have fed the four of them. Instead, they had 4 plates in on the table that would now feed 16 people. Plus, they had side items.

The family begins to eat. And they eat. Half way through this meal, the waitress gets called over. Supposedly, there is now a problem with the food. Poor quality? Not what they ordered? Does it really matter?

Fresh plates of food get brought out. Immediately the family asks for To Go boxes.

WTF!!!! Are you kidding? The waitress just had to make the family happy. She probably did not get a decent tip. And the restaurant gets to eat the cost of this families actions. The cost of this gets passed along to you and me.

I see this occur quite often here in Atlanta. And at many different price points of restaurants. People consider it their right to f**k over restaurants and waitstaff. These are businesses and people’s livelihood. I just don’t understand the lack of morals or integrity that people have anymore. Everyone just wants theirs and they want it all for free.

That is appalling. What is wrong with people?

  2. This doesn’t surprise me in the least and that is sad but it is what our society is quickly becoming, “gimme gimme gimme and gimme more now and for free”, shameful. This family probably spent their last dime on some professional sporting event that they were late for or some crap…another issue I have a problem with; sporting events, concerts and whatnot, ticket pricing out the whazooo! But, people will buy them anyway to get to see their favorite thug play/perform. I don’t get it.

  3. So sad what these parents are teaching their kids. I sometimes feel that etiquette has left the building but, I have faith!!!

Sorry I missed Friday night’s get-together! A bit of a family crisis… all three of my brother’s children, all under 3 were in hospital. They’re out now, but it was a huge scare. The twins are just 3 months old.

This must have been Maggianos…this is a classic move that will result in left-overs for the whole weekend!
