Old School pick of the week – Express Yourself

Favorite song ever. Always puts me in a good mood.

Events – Cocktails and Cookbooks

My friend Julie just moved back to Atlanta from New York City. I dragged her away from her 12 hour days at her new firm for a little fun tonight at the JLA event Cocktails and Cookbooks. It was held at the Fresh Market on Peachtree Road. For your ticket price, you got a wine tasting with many, many wines and dessert beverages to chose from. Plus, appetizers such as crab cakes, bruschetta, cheese tasting, shrimp cocktail and beef. You also got to choose from a selection of Junior League cookbooks from around the country.

The food was classic, was good. The wine was OK. I choose the Gracious Gator Cooks book from Gainesville, FL and Julie got True Grits from Atlanta. The following pictures do not due the event justice. It was really nice and I was told it was sold out. The wine was running out. There was a picture of us, but I look like crap. And I included Julie’s fabulous new bag.

Old School pick of the week

I have mentioned before that back in the day I used to be a bit of a raver/clubber. I don’t party like it is 1999 anymore (or even 2002), but I still listen to electronic music.

Ed and I actually met at a Wednesday night party here in Atlanta at the old Crescent Room.
I always really liked Dave Seaman and was on his website looking around. Here is an hour long mix from his site if you have never heard him.

here

It is relatively laid back for what most people probably think of electronica.

The electronic scene in Atlanta is not what it used to be when all the laws changed. Plus, I just got invited to go to Fantasy Fest, but I don’t think I have it in me to even watch. That time has past.

Thus, old school pick of the week.

Scenic MD and other things.

I got a new camera, which my site does not want to upload the pictures from. To high res.

So we are going to try this.

These pictures are from Silver Spring, College Park, Annapolis, and Easton, MD. The Pink Crab is actually where the old April Cornell store used to be. I helped put it back together after it got flooded. The restaurant is at Tidewater Inn. I did not eat hardly any of the food, but was really, really good. Ed will be home next week, so MD/DC is getting a break for awhile.

Also, I deleted Friday’s thank you post by accident.

Gossip Girl – New TV

Only show other than Dirty Sexy Money I want to see. (Plus, the new Ken Burns, The War) Currently, I love it. But how can I not. Look at the clothes.

By the way Sex and the City the movie started filming today and pictures are all over the web.

Sorry for the lazy posts lately. Things will settle down soon in my life and I will be out and about again in Atlanta. And I will have a new camera so I know you want to see pictures of the construction sites I visit. Kidding!

Stores to Love – new adds to OTP

I don’t go OTP if I can help it. But if I did, I would be really excited about these store openings.

At Mall of Georgia, The Apple store is opening September 22. Lenox will still be my store.

At Perimeter Mall, a Sur La Table store opened September 11. I might be tempted to go.

One of my personal favorite’s from my neighborhood has decided to open a second location. Alon’s Bakery will be opening in December in the Park Place Shopping Center across from Perimeter Mall. Lucky You!

Books to Love – Entertaining is Fun

Bought several other party cookbooks and a Jackie O. style book. But here is the fun one.

Because I want you all to love me. (And if you have been to my parties… Well, at least you liked the food and the bar.)
